Subconscious & Conscious evolution
It occurred to me a few weeks ago that the subconscious very likely works on low resolution imagery. The basis for this, is that if you look at less evolved creatures you will see ducks flock to decoy’s, you’ll see horses try to mate with approximate representations of what they naturally believe to be correct. In effect many animals lack the ability to experience a higher resolution of the environment around them; they rely effectively on instinct, or what I’d call Intuition. Conscious thought appears to be the lense that provides greater granularity to the senses. The thinking process refines it further. Given that our senses have incrementally evolved elements (A lense on an eye to improve focus etc) there is absolutely no reason to suggest otherwise with the brain. However, the modern day “evolved” society tends to value Conscious thinking far greater than Subconscious intuition (Look at the structure and interdependencies of the systems we reside it). It seems no coincidence that the likes of Jung et al have picked up on this step change between the intuitives and the more recent thinkers. If you take the Sensing and Thinking traits (ST) then you have high use of the modern evolved aspect to the brain, if you take Intuition and Feeling (NF) then you are relying more on the archaic subconscious Intuitive elements of the Mind, with the Intuitive Thinkers (NT) using both the Subconscious and Conscious minds. One interesting analogy of the mind seems to be computing systems; it is almost as though as we try to create the perfect mind we reflect the structure of our own minds. Prophetically it seems we are creating the image of ourselves.
