    Default Intuition and Irrationality

This is another interesting article. There are a couple of paragraphs that tie well into Jungs profiling...

    As follows:

"Some people think rationality is the opposite of emotion, but from our results, everyone had emotion, but some people were better at coping with their emotions," he explained.

I don't know if there is such a thing as irrational behavior. I believe that behavior that appears irrational on the outside is actually rational if you look a little deeper. Let's take an alcoholic for example. He continues to drink despite all the damage it has caused him and his family. It appears a rational person would stop. But really, the id in him likes to get drunk and likes the feeling therefore will work to get it. The rationality is he likes to get drunk so he does.

Irrational in its purest form I would guess is anything that is not the most efficient or does not lead to the best outcome.

I am sure you are aware of plenty of people that act in certain fashions which seems adverse to themselves and to those that interact with them.

I know from personal experience and self analysis at an early age that you can get locked into cycles that often you cannot or will not or are too lazy to escape from. I even believe there is a type of "neuroplasticity" of the brain that means you think and act down certain lines simply due to having acted or thought that way often enough. In effect if you think negatively for long enough you being to instinctively act negatively. It’s like Pavlov’s salivating dogs that are subconsciously attuned to acting on set initiators.

Basically tying your thoughts to your instincts. This can work as a defensive mechanism in severe environments. The problem with positive thinking is that it leaves you vulnerable to external influence. People might think it is easy as changing to way you think in order to solve problems, but in order to do that one needs a kind of disposition, as halfhearted approaches tend to compromise ones survivability.
