Well,

I think these 2 items in the Brain play quite large parts in the type of personalities.

I guess I'd better start with some references to get "anyone"! reading this to a reasonable starting point, in true pop science I'll reference wikipedia, although there are more comprehensive and far drier texts.

Amygdala

Basically a fear fight or flight structure.

Hippocampus

Now its these 2 areas that seem to intutively do it for me. The Amygdala very much raises the concept of "feeling" (Irrespective of what Jung states about feeling not being connected with emotion (which I disagree with)). The Hippocampus to me acts in sympathy to the Amygdala, and they definitely work together to recognise and place an emotional context on stimulous. (In fact I'd say the Amygdala stimulates the other regions of the brain as stressors are far more energising than satiating things - Oh yes, out on a limb I'd say a highly active Amygdala creates additional growth in mass and connections of white/grey matter).

In fact, (although I haven't read it anywhere) I would strongly assert that the Hippocampus is more systems/process orientated (Simply because it is cited in connection with pattern recognition) whereas the Amygdala is "people/predator" orientated (Fight or flight and various other aspects).

To me, these are the root of thinking and feeling as we tend to think of. I'd go further and say "intution" is most likely a hightened ability/use of both these areas. By implication sensing is lower Amygdala propensity/latency quite possibly with a higher hippocampus to offset.

I'll add to this as I read more. But I'm pretty sure I'm in the zone on this one.

Anyone is free to disagree...

Nb: If we took an analogy of the mind being a hard drive, then a heightened Amygdala in conjunction with a strong hippocampus would punch out significant patterns and recognition traits i.e. "Intution". The Amygdala is the dynamo on many a introvert.
