Default Genius Madness... walking the tightrope

    Consider the following articles...

You don't have to be bipolar to be a genius – but it helps - Science, News - The Independent

Fine line between genius and insanity: study - The Local

My words: According to the Karolinska Institute similar brain chemistry has been identified in healthy creative people and those with schizophrenia.

The similarity is based on lower concentrations of dopamine which pass information to the thalamus which in turn is responsible for filtering information before reaching the cortex, where reasoning takes place.

Hence, this may explain why schizophrenics and creative people are able to make unusual links between information.

"Highly creative people who did well on the divergent tests had a lower density of dopamine D2 receptors in the thalamus than less creative people". "Schizophrenics are also known to have low D2 density in this part if the brain, suggesting a link between mental illness and creativity".

I have been labeled a lunatic more times then I can count. I have also ended up in the mental hospital a couple of times. My life has been extremely abusive. It is amazing I am still alive.
