    Default deja vu & consciousness

For a long time I haven't really had much sleep, probably about 5 hrs a night and then at weekends crash and sleep for ages..

So what? well, I really don't remember having ANY dreams.

However, recently I have been getting more sleep and quite frankly its thrown up its own set of problems...

I've had quite a few dreams and its somewhat blurred my reality, seriously, I've dreamed things that I have assumed have happened in daily life and then some days after the fact realised that I must have dreamed it...

This then poses the question... if we dream about things that are very close to our "reality", can this in effect somewhat shape our recollection of it...?

And what of deja vu? Is this the actualisation in reality of a rehersal while dreaming? (Remember that your dreams could be contingency thinking and thinking of the permutations of real life in various situations) Could a Eureka idea be possibly the resurface of an idea thought of while dreaming? (Maybe the idea that popped into your head bubbled to the surface while you were sleeping)...

Interestingly, it would seem if we front end load our minds with information and problems then we can process this somewhat during our sleep (however more loosely connected than in pure consciousness thought (In alignment with my notion of consciouness being the refining lense of the animal subconsciousness), what I'd call directional dreaming. However, if we don't have this in our minds we are more likely to have what I'd call reflective dreaming, more about what events happened and so forth. I believe the mind processes what it has in its buffer as it curns it about (assimilating/integrating) it while we sleep.

Hence the theory is, Deja vu and Eureka's may well often be recollection of our dream state thoughts.

For me, reading this....it hits home again how little we know about our minds.

I think we are verging on realising, (well, some), the infinite possibilities. The more I open my mind to thoughts and ideas, the more incredible experiences occur.

Reality can be, for me, just one aspect of life, the 2 D....things are not always what they seem. Only what we think we know.

Heh, not really the forum to be conveying these personal ideas and thoughts, INTJ land....remember I am a very out there INFP.

Interesting thought on dreams and recollection of it, I'm not sure how to answer that question though. But on deja vu I just had a conversation on it today, and I was tired and went back to my theory, which is deja vu happens when our brains are really tired. I think of it like a record skipping and it does a repeat. I'm not sure how the neurons connect or neuroscience, but I see this loose connection and the image skips back so we think we've seen it before.
Yes, quite possibly, Its a bit like a microsleep and you don't realise you,ve nodded off.

I like your thougths though on dejevu. I see it divided into two categories, those where our brains skips and we think we saw it before and then things that we think we had dreamt before. But if deja vu was just another way for us to sort out thoughts, process, like we do in sleep, that could be an intersting lead. Ok, I'm going to get to bed so I don't have too much deja vu tommorow
I firmly believe that we are always in "sleep" subconscious mode; it’s just that consciousness raises us above into greater perception of reality. Dreams and all the other activities are still going on its just that conscious stimulation cancels them out from conscious observation.

If we need a NF natter section then you need only ask .

It always amazes me how a group of women can have so many conversations going at once, I've even seen women talking to each othe continously at the same time.... Guys have a much more regimented approach, one guy talks and the rest listen... its the pack hunting mode.
