    Default Latent association

I somehow through my travels across youtube came across an interesting psych experiement which went as follows:

State the first thing that comes into you mind in association with each of the items listed.

    Beer
    Soup
    Paris Hilton

Now, My first thought on the first two were immediately associated with branded items, and then with Paris Hilton I think it was "****"

One thing is apparent though, the first two items show how receptive you are to marketing (and recollection of) and the third item shows more your deep seated views or lack of.

There's a whole heap of psych in marketing, even things like font's give a whole personality to the item.

Nb: Quite a number of people don't immediately associate brand names with consumable products and people do think of "pink" etc as their first thought on Parish Hilton.

    I went:

Beer: "Relaxing"....summer is here and we sometimes sit on verandah, have a beer, the kids play cricket, the dogs play the kids.

Soup: I thought immediately of cold winter nights and my chicken soup, seem to be following a seasonal thing!

Paris Hilton: I actually, immediately thought of charity work, she has just been here in Oz and the press, being the media, doing what they do...photographed and grabbed everything they could about her. I thought straight away of a charity I am involved in, and I know she contributes, for that, I am eternally appreciative. Plus, she has one of the most beautiful skin complexions, I have ever seen on a person.

Thank goodness for me, I have never been a marketing devotee, succumbing to it's tentacles...although I do love Red Rooster.
