Well,

It seems that this topic keeps on appearing during my trawl for useful information!

This article is very interesting, basically it states that there is evidence that the Grey and White matter parts of the brain in the frontal lobes of Autistic children grow at an accelerated pace during childhood.

"They discovered that there are both grey and white matter increases in children with autism, and that these changes are biggest at the front of the brain".

The question that then arises (as they believe its the grey matter that grows and leads to the white matter growth) does this 1) have an obvious correlation to males (who have 6.5x more grey matter than females) and 2) That IQ in adults is more frontal lobe orientated, is Autism an unlucky biological occurrence that would be a favourable trait if the growth occurred more in adult life (or simply that greater grey and white matter does matter in intellectual terms). Autism seems almost like to be the opposite to underdeveloped brains except it’s over development.

It’s all very interesting, smart NTs seem closer to Autism than I ever believed till recently.
