Default Neuro Psychology Hypothesis - Intuition & Innovation

Neuro Psychology Hypothesis - Intuition & Innovation

Well, here's a great little theory I've developed to potentially explain why some highly analytical thinkers are capable of being extemely innovative in technical fields.

Essentially it reloves around how logical analytical left brain thinking can be routed through the right brains more artistic and creative elements.

Hypothesis: That stimulus both internally and externally generated, can draw cognitive processing along pathways not generally used, leading to enhanced abilities in Innovation and Intuitiveness. (Click on link below).

    Neuro Psychology - Hypothesis Innovation

I hope you enjoy thinking about it as much as I did pondering it....

Rather fascinating. I have played quite a few video games throughout my life and while surfng the net I always have bg music on but never process the lyrics, could this actually contribute to being able to concentrate more visually while listening to music and other sounds? I have never really thought about what actual effect it could be having on my except changing my mood, yet your hypothesis implies a long term mental effect, would you say that the stimuli must stay present for such effect to occur but doesnt effect the person when theres no stimuli or is it a prolonged event that continues to give an advantage even when no stimuli is present?

The only problem with your hypothesis is the idea of a single thought following 1 path as 1 electrical impulse, wouldnt it just increase its activity making it develop more allowing for a more rounded thought that takes into account all aspects on the mind? Couldnt such stimuli also have negative effects such as awakening negative emotion in the subject turning a peaceful person into someone with more of a temper for example?

I must admit that I am more innvative while listening to music lol.

    Hi,

I need to expand the article a bit and incorporate more explanatory detail.

What I am trying to get across is that in a "normal conscious state" your thought patterns take reasonable predictable paths that you have developed over your lifetime. However, (And I'm really zoning in on cognitive analytical thinking) heightened internal and external stimulus can potentially pull processing into areas that are working on the most pronounced stimulus. Let’s say music for instance; you start partially working Math’s in the Music area. (Left brain thinking in the right brain). And over time this flexibility/variability (and structured development) in the mind allows you to better parallel process Math’s in both left and right hemispheres - e.g. creative deductive logic.

However, I think depression is even more of a huge factor. Let’s say you are very rational and your logic is pulled into processing centers with the emotional content (which tends to be more creative)... same thing. Just that depression is far more long term and consistent. I believe a significant majority of "brilliant minds" have had this condition.

Just perhaps also, the thinking pathways in the mind has some "short term elasticity" whereby processing in creative areas has a short term effect on creative logical thinking.

I'd like to believe that the mind when under stress makes additional copies of the additional "cognitive thought" and sends them through areas of the mind that are activated (As the mind knows its important to gain interpretation in those zones (because there's a reason they are activated (Flight/Fight)), and they are overlaid as a concluding viewpoint of the "thought". So, if the thought has traveled through different areas then it should be more three dimensional rather than a straight linear observation. (Three dimensional is the vision rather than the observation).

    I'll update the article...
