    Default Men & Blondes.....

Heres an interesting acticle on the topic....

Quite interesting, the evolutionary biological theory proposed for why some women genetically went blonde....

lol, I guess this is plausable but it would depend on the society and the individuals own beliefs on stereotypes I would believe. The survey doesnt mention if they asked the people they were doing this test on their views on blondes before hand from what it says...or after which would make more sense lol. Anyay I doubt it evolved for that reason lol, evolution is based upon the random change in alleles ove time, the mutations dont happen due to the environment, merely the bad mutations are weeded out.

    As this statement states

"Scientists have found that their mental performance drops, apparently because they believe they are dealing with someone less intelligent".

"those who performed poorly had been unconsciously driven by social stereotypes to "think blonde"".

Err... I'd say because that their minds are being sidetracked about more primeval desires... Or, a blood deficit in the cerebral cortex...

"Others believe its origins go far deeper. According to researchers at St AndrewsUniversity, north European women evolved blonde hair and blue eyes at the end of the Ice Age to make them stand out from their rivals at a time of fierce competition for scarce males".

I see what they are getting at in "popular science speak". It’s probably more a combination of the vitamin D effect and a preference selection. The gene though may have rapidly spread simply because in Eastern Europe there seems to be a higher proportion of women and the competitive selection process would therefore have been greater.

"Up to a third of women in Britain may look blonde, but only about 3% are naturally so".

Ahhh... the old evolutionary biology battle continues

lol, I personally dont find blondes that attractive XD.

Whats the Vitamin D effect lol? Anyway I guess your right on most of yor points lol, I am just sceptical about how the test was carried out though.

Btw its qute ironic that your name is God on this forum yet we are discussing ideas that creationists would completely disagree with such as evolution XD.

You probably know this but for the benefit of anyone else...

Vitamin D is primarily gained through the suns UV rays, lack of Vitamin D has the following implications amongst many

"The main function of vitamin D is to maintain normal levels of calcium and phosphorus in the blood to support bone mineralization (hardening of bones), cell functions, and proper nerve and muscle function. Vitamin D acts as a hormone, enhancing the absorption of calcium and phosphorus in the small intestine.
Vitamin D is needed for normal growth. Without it, bones become weak and deformed, resulting in rickets in children and a condition called osteomalacia in adults.

Vitamin D deficiency can lead to the development of osteoporosis because it reduces calcium absorption. In older people, low vitamin D levels have been associated with an increased risk of falling. Higher vitamin D levels have been associated with stronger bones (greater bone mineral density)".

So, it’s pretty much agreed by the scientific community that loss of pigmentation has occurred in Northern European countries to allow more sunlight to pass through the skin.

I've just made an "intuitive" and obviously unscientifically proven jump and considered that hair follicles as part of the skin may well have in some circumstances also reduced in pigmentation and therefore led to blondness. Given that fish etc also gives vitamin D perhaps there is some correlation with Nordic types retaining the propensity to turn browner (Although its more likely they have less cloud cover in certain seasons - e.g. summer).

Like all these newspaper articles... they are kept light and fluffy and in reality is only one step away from a gossip page in a weekly magazine. (They throw in some half baked science and give it an air of "respectability"). Ahhh... like my theories.. ... but at least I acknowledge they are theories...

I have reconciled my GOD like status... "GOD's" are scientifically advanced life forms. And besides... I have the ability to strike down any pleb bloggers.
