Amygdala, Depression, Visualisation and the distributive mindset

I read a reasonably interesting article the other day on software being able eventually to read the mind.
The most interesting aspect though, is the activation of different parts of the brain based on "thoughts" rather than "experiences".
A paragraph as follows.
"a person who is thinking of a bear uses the same parts of the brain that light up when he or she thinks of a puppy or something else furry. A person thinking of a bear also shows activity in the amygdala - home of the fight-or-flight response."
The point I find interesting is whether aspects such as depression ensure that the person is always in a state of fight or flight, and by using different parts of the mind in far greater amounts of analysis leads them to a more "distributive" mindset.
The other aspect is the introvert by definition will be subject to far greater usage of visualisation simply by having the time and space to focus on whatever their thoughts are directed at. In effect a greater recall of scenarios and circumstances that activate the Amygdala and other regions.
Anyway, here is the article 'Mind-reading' brain-scan software showcased in New York - News, Gadgets & Tech - The Independent
