    Default The Art of logic.

    Guess its me...

But I don't buy into the whole concept that art is great because everyone else says this or that artist is so...

I've never considered Art appreciation as a function of psychological type... but I would assume that the expression and identification of art would correlate to the observers type.

Like, as a "rational" I like 3 types of art.

    1) Art that requires an apptitude that I cannot replicate. Fine arts is an example, some people just have an incredible ability to replicate images on canvas.

    2) Modern Art that has many layers and complicated logic in it. Basically an onion ring of layers... the more you look, the more you see. The artist is playing an intellectual game with you. (This is very rare though).

    3) Modern Art that just jumps out with colour or uniqueness that is just simply original. Original perception is almost like a joke or observation that you previously were not aware of.. (rare again).

I love art, can get lost in art gallery forever. The Louvre, Van Gogh Museum...any art gallery...Van Gogh, my favorite, Immpressionists breathtaking stuff. But love most art/photography...love the arts full stop. And I paint, and get lost in photography. It's heaven.

What do you think about film as art?
So much of [art] cinema is an intellectual game... just look at Fellini. (Who, incidentally, was a Jungian.) The more times you watch 8 1/2, the more you see... Not so rare in film!
I'm a rational (INTJ) and am deeply interested in art, particularly art film. [cinema/media studies & economics major] I think in many ways my rationality/logical approach is an asset in that it's different from that of my touchy-feely, pseudo-artistic classmates. (Who it's probably clear that I have no respect for...)

Yeah, the main problem with INTJs is that we are always looking for the signposts. How often have we got confused signals when we've been assuming that the other party is as smart and is intellectually jousting.

Get music, and break it down into all its layers (different instruments) and you can see how it all builds. The main thing I noticed with music is to make it catchy and keep your interest over an extended period of time it needs to not quite be predictible. The sooner your mind completely understands the cycles the sooner it shelves it, I think emotional interest tends to be more in the conscious.

As for artistic people generally, I don't rate most of them. I often think sometimes its a default interest as they are not academically inclined. Often it seems more of a club or a way of giving themselves social importance. In theory a lot of N's should be good at art as they are visualists, although often its more constructs in the mind.

As for Film being art. Most definitely, it has a wider range of expression as its dynamic and not static.
