It all comes down to the same thing mobility... Nothing can be expected to change until somebody pulls in the reigns.
Well,
Some observations I have, through continuing to be involved in very creative industries and the most process of ones, is that many employees who are long term employees have a certain fixation of the mind.
This appears to be evident in most workers. Namely, that because they have done the role so long their mind is channelled down a certain thought pattern route. I see accountants who are so detail orientated they cannot stand back and see the bigger and more efficient picture. I see fashion designers that conceptually see the ideas (or marketing people) but fundamentally miss the detail, especially in a commercial context.
I sometimes wonder if the whole academic process should be orientated towards pushing students into taking on their weaknesses and letting their strengths evolve after the learning process. I think there is too much emphasis on pushing people’s strengths and not enough on redressing weaknesses. So called division of duties may work on production lines but they are very problematic in knowledge based environments.... especially where technical people keep getting infinitely more detailed when in fact it’s not as important as understanding the broader picture better.
It all comes down to the same thing mobility... Nothing can be expected to change until somebody pulls in the reigns.
I agree. This world needs more well rounded people. Our education system would be wise to create and apply more individualized teaching methods to support each unique child so as to strengthen their weakness. There would be more opportunity for that child to naturally balance themselves. Of course, Balance by itself does not gaurentee true harmony for that individual. We would want to strive for harmonious balance of talent, skills, learning and spiritual enviroments. I am new to your forum and had read a 2010 blog entry about INTJ children. I wanted to comment, if I may, due to the fact that the accuracy in your description triggered truth in my own childhood effecting me currently in the work world. I have observed severely flawed systems part simply corp agenda's, the other lack of vision of both the management and the workers they chose. This not only drives me to the point of pulling my hair out, but room for logical and visionary discussion is forbidden. It is my opinion that today young people are being led to generic fields of intentional study where they will be fashioned based on the corporations needs and wants.
I'd say one of the biggest problems is that we have "crap" Universities, even the best ones don't get it. Most academics are the very ones who don't get it really. They have this publish or perish mentality so they pump out garbage in journals that nobody reads or contributes to anything in the real world. Meanwhile they standardise courses so they can pump students through the factory of learning, like battery farmed chickens.
The Soviets had it right when they sought out the best as kids and directed them at an early age. Obviously it has flaws but the whole academic system seems flawed to me. I mean, all the billions and billions that go into it with no strategic orientation of the required outputs for the intended customer (The national imperative). Untold dross courses that are effectively the equivalent of open prisons for the mind... just a time spent wasted.
lol, as you can see.. I probably have a chip on my shoulder about it...![]()

Far from having a chip on your shoulder. The truth is duplicatable. The education system has evolved into an educational mill. For the purpose of training the young for skills that will serve the corp world. We spend so much time and energy on politics to try and change the system when all along we have evolved to being the slaves of corporation agenda that influences the political realm which trickles down into all of the programs that should be there to help and support communities. This may sound generic but it is at the core of all of the other topics that are really looked at. It is about systems designed with intention. The real question is what is the intention and who's is it. Now, with all of the budget cuts, educational systems are severely effected. And the corp attitude of higher younger, cheaper labor while getting rid of those that have experience and a voice is going to dumb us all down. Those that are left ignorant are easier to influence. Those kids that are gifted are and have been forced to blend with the rest and suffer in school. If our educational system had the proper back up and support, the teachers would change things. Their hands are tied evolving our educational system into a mind prison.
